Anti spark resistor: Which end points toward the esc?

I know which end of a resistor is the negative end. But which way do you solder it in? JIM

Doesn't matter on resisters. It does for capacitors though.

What is an anti spark resistor? Is it to prevent the massive "zap" I hear when I connect the battery to the ESC (and leaves a burn mark on the connector terminals)? How and where is it installed?
