    Pinckert Rigger

I picked up this old Don Pinckert Rigger kit nib. Any thoughts on power/set-up. It was originally for 3.5, but quite big by todays standards

What are the dimensions? How big are the different compartments? We need to know what will fit where.

      The tub is 26 1/2 x 4 5/8.

The forward compartment is 12 1/2 long with booms in the way ( see pic). The aft compartment is 10" no obstructions.

2 2S can fit side by side in the forward compartment. Maybe more depending on the mfgr.

      Thanks.

I'd set that up for N2 Hydro... 2S2P with a Neu 1512 1D and Hydra 240, or something along those lines... That'd be a HOT setup that I'd restrict to racing only... but it'd fly...

If you are sport running... You might consider just doing it up with 4S1P and a larger canned motor in the 2200KV range... a Neu 1515 1Y comes to mind...

Not sure what your intended use is (racing or sport), but those are two setups that might work... I'd really have to have it on my bench and lay everything out to see for sure what would fit and how it would all go together, but it looks like there would be plenty of room...

Let us know what you decide to do... There aren't enough FE riggers available out there these days... it would be nice if we could get these back into the mainstream of FE racing again... They are fun to build and drive... and if a Nitro conversion were feasible, that'd be one step closer...

            Thanks. I have a 1515 1Y for a DF33.
4S1P will definately fit in the forward compartment.
Any thoughts on strut and motor mount ?

            Thanks again.

For the strut I'd use a SpeedMaster 21 sized like OSE sells here:

              http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=ros-21-strut

I'd go ahead and use .150 cable in it... that should hold up... My P-sized boats are all getting .187" however...

All of the riggers I've built use a custom fabbed motor mount that is essentially just a plate with holes in it... You might look at the OSE Mount like this:

              http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...=adj-540-mount

Or even the stock SV27 mount might be made to fit nicely.

Or you could try the new mount by Vac-U-Boats:

There are some good pics of one of my little rigger projects here:

              http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/for...ght=19T+Rigger

This is just a small 19T brushed rigger that runs on 2S1P, but the idea is the same... you can see the home-made motor mount in there...

              Hope this helps...

Dumas still has some rigger kits last time I looked.....they are not going to work with really high power though, without some changes.
