    Carbon Fiber Genesis Motor Setup

    Hello All,
    I have a CF genesis, I am running a Nemesis Gold(Leopard) 482(4-9s) 1600kv from fine design with a Swordfish 240A hv esc. I'm using 2 hyperion G3 EX 4S 5000mah 45/90c lipos in series for a 8s setup with an Octura X640 polished/balanced prop. I'm also running 2 hyperion G3 EX 3S 5000mah 45/90c lipos in series for a 6s setup using a Octura x645 polished/balanced. Motor and ESC temps on both setup's are excellent.

If anyone can give me some feedback and advice on these setup's it will be greatly appreciated since im new to the electirc boats since i've only had gas boats in the past.
    Thanks,
    Joshua

If I'm reading this correctly I would say you are pushing that motor to the limit and maybe beyond. that setup should be ok on 6s with a 447 prop max. 445 I would say optimal and no more than 7s. But if everything is cold, I dont know what to say really. lets wait and see when it pops?? The 8s (53760 no load) is a bit high for any motor, but people out there are doing it. I know I wouldn't be able to keep that cold for sure. Then again, if you are having fun doing 80+mph on 8s and can afford it, why not :)

Thanks nata2run for you response. Im not sure if im correct but would'nt it be (47360 no load)? not sure if i calculated it correctly but what i did was thake the kv1600 multiplied it by 3.7v the multiplied it by the number of cells 8.

Thanks antslake i wasn't aware of that. Do you all know if the nemesis Gold 482 is rated higher than the Leopard 4082? According to Fine design the Nemesis can handle up to 9s. Here is the link to the motor http://www.finedesignrc.com/motorsnemesisgold.asp

Even if it can handle 9s isn't that just way to much unloaded rpm at 1600kv?

The specs you see from manufacturers on their motors re voltages are not for boats. The same for most esc specs on voltages, A leopard 4082 1600kv has been use on 9s but this is purly for SAW runs where its limited to seconds for runs up & back the lake. Around 100mph in a Genisis from memory.

I would keep that motor on 6s-7s for sure and just have some fun, If one day you decide that that its not enough, you can always look into Lehner motors (LMT) far beyond Leopard motors in quality. I got twin leopards 4082 1600kv spinning 447 L/R props 6s in my mystic and too scared to open her up LOL

I think she's good for 75-85mph any day. For my little pond, its more than plenty.

Now ya talking! 7s 445 prop "that might be your SAFE MAX" but it will be fast if setup right 65mph+ I would guess

In that case, I think the 645 on 6s would be a good start. You could run your 3s and 4s into series to make 7 :) the machined alu 45mm should be ok, better than cast alu.

Yeah thats what Chris from Fine Design said to do. Run the 6s using the X645 and the 8s using the X640. But im having issues with keeping the boat straight when i give it throttle it starts to pull hard to the right, not sure if this is because its over powered or i dont have my batteries in the right place or need to adjust my strut up or down.

Look in the Genesis Thread for ideas on how to adjust the strut, I got one but never got it ro run smooth. Now its just a 50mph nightmare :)
I had to go down to a 38 prop before I could get it to go. 2200 kv on 6s not the best, was a hot setup.

on high revs, cats like small props. If your rudder is off center its not so bad. There is very little you can do if you rudder is in center.
                              1. maybe use a smaller prop with higher rpm
                              2. off set the rudder to the right.
                              3. add some stearing - ( will create drag)

TWINS with rudder in center :) optimal!
