    build question

I am just about to start my first scratch build, just got the plans in the mail for the Wild Thing that I am going to make FE. Looks like it will be a fairly easy build other than figuring out a hatch for it but I noticed that the plans show drilling the hole for the drive shaft 1/16 to the right of the center line, is that right? Or is that a nitro thing? Thanks in advance

The designer of the WildThing, John Finch, originally offset the driveline to counteract propwalk. However, in recent years he seems to have backed off that recommendation to reduce chine walk on the faster boats - at least on some deep vees. I'm not certain what he'd recommend today, but I'd not hesitate to put the drivelien in the center. What do others who have built the hull as an FE have to say?

thanks Fluid, I think I will center it. Now am I better off with a strut or a stinger?

Don't know what size of a hull you're building but my buddy, Kendt did an awesome job on his. Looks fabulous and runs beautifully. I put together this video of his boat in the Fall. It is a very stable setup that I am sure you will enjoy.

        Good luck with the build.

you can go with a strut/ flooded stuffing tube design, they seem to be taking off these days.

it's the 31" plans, got them from AirAge, just have to get the wood this week. It does look nice and stable in the video, good to see it works well as an FE.
