    Speedmaster strut shafts?

I have several folks putting speedmaster struts on their spartans and other hulls and wanting wire drives for them. I have made some but do not remember the length the speed master needs. I thought they simply had a brass bushing in them. Any idea on the length of shaft...2-3/4?

        Jeff,

I recently got a SPD strut for my JS. It was configured so that the entire .250 stuffing tube went all the way from the nose to the rear of the strut; then the 3/16" id bushing went inside. This would make angle adjustments problematic so I cut the stuffing tube so that it just entered the nose @ 3/16 . Then made another .250 piece to fit inside the rest of the length of the strut and put in the 3/6" bushing. Now it's easy to "wiggle" the strut angle-wise. Not sure if this applies to your situation but I thought I'd chime in.

Thanks.... Just seems like I had to make them longer for someone. Actually with 1" out for the prop end seems 1.25" may not be enough inside the strut. So Seems I was thinking around 2.75" was better.

              Jeff,

Ideally the stub shaft would be as long as the SM bushing for maximum support, this is around 2".
