Question about Motor sizes 4074 vs 3674

    Hey Guys,

    4074 vs 3674 2200KV motors

Can anyone tell me the difference (besides the can size) between using a 40 size can vs a 36 size can. Considering the KV size the same and the power input the same 2 -2S batteries. Does the 40 size run cooler? Can you put more cells to a 40 size?

The 40mm motor is heavier so it can handle a bit more heat. It's larger diameter means larger magnets, more wire, and more torque - which means more ultimate power. In a small/light-for-voltage hull the 36mm motors are fine, but in larger hulls the 40mm motors can have an advantage by spinning larger diameter props. Judging a motor's horsepower solely by the watt input can be misleading, just like using Kv as the only comparison can lead to very wrong conclusions.

Would a 3674 can offer more run time over the 4074?

26" cat with seaking 180 esc, 6s and m445 prop. If i changed the 3674 1700kv can for a 4074 can of similar kv would my run time be reduced and how much roughly?
