    1800 or 2030?

Whats the real differance in a 2030 and 1800 kv motor? asking because my motley crew came with a 2030kv instead of the posted 1800kv... Why?

More speed. You better swap out those cheap factory motor connectors for some beefier bullets

I have no idea why your MC had the 2030 Kv motor - was it new? The 2030 motor has the potential for more speed, but to get it you will likely draw more amps. You will need to run a slightly smaller prop with the 2030 motor. In a hydro the 2030 is worth 2-4 mph over the 1800, but in the cat the ultimate difference will be less.

Will the "smaller" prop reduce my "out out-of-the-hole" and add to my top-end?

Won't be much difference in speed in a MC at all, tried all the spec motors in mine, I prefer the 1500kv Geico motor with a bigger prop.
Much more to be gained by fixing the imperfections in the hull and getting it set up perfectly.

robde ul1, Your 1800 motor will give you 26,640 RPM with 4S (14.8 V). That's OK for fun boating, but you will need a larger prop w/more pitch to make it race worthy. A larger prop will "get out of the hole" quicker & has a higher top end than a smaller prop, but will draw more amps. So go up in prop size slowly & keep an eye on motor heat.

Bullet connectors get larger as the amp requirements rise. If you have 4.5mm gold bullets & they desolder themselves between the ESC/motor (like I have) go with 6-8mm bullets. Hell, I've had 8mm bullets desolder in running 8S2P SAWs. I don't know what ESC/motor & wire guage you are using so I can't be specific. It's hard, but not impossible to change the ESC & motor wires to flexable 8 guage wires. It will void any warrantee. I'm retired and don't have a lot of money, but my time is worth more than trying to put new wires on the ESC/motor. I'd just buy a new 200-240 Amp HV speed controller.

As to your $300 ebay motor, I'd ask the seller to exchange your 1800KV motor for the 2030KV as advertized. If they won't, file a complaint with ebay and/or paypal. JIM
