GPS for speed check

What is the best cheapest GPS to use to check speed
Also i would like it to run on bat power not rechargeable.

I bought a used garmin geko 101 of ebay for $30 shipped. They run on 2 aaa's. It has worked perfectly.

Another one to keep an eye out on ebay is the Garmin Forerunner 101. Not the cheapest, but close. Nice and compact. Runs on AAA's.

I wanted to make sure it would save the top speed before i picked one up

If you get the Forerunner, there is a start/stop button that you have to activate to enable the top speed function.

Yep - couldn't tell you how many times I forgot to hit the start button.
