Yep - 5S is the most unless it's a saw application then 6S.

Im building my own miss geico from a 33" fiberglass hull a friend gave to me, the tacon 1700kv 3674 motor m445 prop (I think that's what it is) and everything is together minus the esc. I also have an e maxx I run the tacon 1700kv 3674 motor in which is rated for 8s lipo so u better believe I got the esc and twin 4s lipos. The motor was only $40 and I WAS a firm believer in u get what u pay for so I bought 2 motors to be safe and have yet to hurt it and i have been beating that thing like a red headed step child lol for close to 8 months now so I would love to see what 1 can do in a cat problem is I haven't been able to find a water cooled esc that can handle 8s lipo. Oh yeah the boat with batteries motor ect. weights just under 9lbs.
        Thanks for the help.

That motor will NEVER handle 8s in a boat. 6s, maybe, but with a tiny prop.

Mr. Geico, you are new to boating so we will give your rudeness a pass due to your lack of understanding of the stress that boats put on motors, ESCs and packs. If I had a dollar for every car guy who came into the boating hobby thinking they knew it all, I'd have enough to buy a brand new PB Miss Geico. Just because you used a cheap motor in a car or truck does not mean it will work in a boat. The folks who have answered above know FAR more about this section of the hobby than you do, and they have patiently tried to help you.

But apparently you know more than highly experienced FE boaters do about FE boats. So, after you have fried the motor and/or ESC trying to run on 8S, come back and listen to what the experienced members of this forum have to say. We will not say "we told you so".

If I seemed rude please forgive me I did not intend to offend anyone by any means what so ever. Doby asked for more info on what I was trying to do with the specified parts so I was simply giving him the info he asked of me. Once again im sorry for sounding rude I do not wish to get off on the wrong foot.

You'd be better off using the cells to run 4s2p and use a 40mm diameter motor around 1900-2200kv. To run 8s, you'd want a motor around 1000kv. I don't think you came off as rude at all FWIW.

also keep in mind that on the emax your using a transmission which reduces rpm.

120Amp ESC is good for UL-1 motor or BJ-26 motor on 4S. Some are using Bj-26 motor on 6S but with right set up of prop, cables, connectors, and checking temps often....
