    T180 programming help

Hi, I've got the programming card for a car but downloaded the correct value card from hobby wings website, however when I follow the steps in the instructions

    Connect the esc
Connect the ex battery pack (red wire disconnected from the esc)
The program box lights up with -- --
Then when I connect a battery to the esc the lights go out and I just get beeping from the esc?

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I've tried other combinations with no joy.

    Thanks

    Is this the digital one?

Make sure all 3 wires are connected the esc/programmer, then plug in a battery to the esc. I believe a motor needs to be connected as well, but I could be wrong.

That's how mine works, hope this helps Matt!

Matt, I've had a few inconsistant results, but what works for me (sometimes after one or two tries) is:

plug the ESC into the correct port of the box observing the correct polarity WITH the red wire connected

      Connect battery to the esc

wait two or three seconds (with fingers crossed)

box lights come on and go ahead and program

Remember that the T-180 has what seems to be a peak voltage detector rather than an average one in the LVC circuit and often goes into half-throttle detect mode. The "cure" if this happens (boat's only going at half speed) is to program for auto-detect and NO LVC [and watch runtimes or get an outboard LVC if you're worried about over-discharging due to longer run times]

Thanks, I will try reconnecting the red wire and just use a single 3s pack with the bec, I will probably get some lvc buzzers as you recommend

Any idea timing for a Leo 4082 1600kv? I think 15' should be about right?

if you pull the red wire and use a rx pack, you dont need to hook it up to your lipos to program it

I use the beep system.................really easy.

Before you plug in the esc, put a rubber band on the trigger pulling it to full throttle so your hands are free to plug in, then wait for the musical tone and when it gets to the parameter you need based on the beeps in the instructions, move throttle to neutral to go into that setting. Then pull full throttle to set it where you want it.

Just follow the manual setting instructions..........

                That is a y wind motor so 10 - 15 degrees. Martin.

I've tried with just an rx pack and esc (red wire pulled) and just get -- -- on the display

Reconnected the red wire and program box worked straight away! Thanks proper!

Set the timing to 15' and LVC to 3.2v but have ordered some buzzers/voltage checkers

My LVC alarms have just arrived, what voltage do they need to be set at? They are currently on 3.2v

Once these are set, just to clarify I need to program the esc to:

                      Cell count = auto detect
                      LVC = no protection

                      Thanks

                        Cell count : AutoDetect

                        LVC : no protection

Matt, there's plenty of opinions on LVC values. 3.8 is a good, safe value. Some may argue this.
