    Red Loctite for flex shafts

Will Red Loctite 271 work well for assembling flex shafts to the stub shafts?
It would be a .150 shaft to a 3/16" stub.
    Thanks

Do not use 271 as this is a thread locker, you need one of the retainer ones either 603, 638 or 648. I think youll find 603 is the most commomly used one. It dosnt have quite the strength of 638 or 648 but its more than enough & because of the very small gap between flex & stub hole its better suited because of its lower viscosity. 603 is also oil tolerent the others arnt, 603 is also what OSE sells & uses on the shafts that they make as well. Having said that ive used 638 as well with no failures either.

          Cool
          Thanks for the info.
          I'll hunt down the green.
It's not worth risking a prop and stub.

Just let me chime in"no it is not worth chancing the loss of a good prop or three.I use the 638 now, apparently it is alot stronger then Aquacrafts silver solder.
