Yeah, it runs differently than my 39" which is the same exact hull in a bit smaller version and runs perfect, this is just so big and heavy at 18lbs................. I have had no trouble running it WOT in big ovals as you may have seen in the vid, but tighter corners produced the spiinng. Thanks
Made some 5" long fins...........gonna try 'em out and turn a bit tight and see what happens............. The boat has plenty of power so the extra length shouldnt really hurt anything..........I just want it to really grip.
old fin in second photo:
BTW, the photo is deceiving...............the rudder is 6.5" long and is extends about 2" below the fin
Have you checked the hull to see if it's hooked? Put a straight edge on it and make sure the running surface is perfectly flat.
I had a problem with bending turnfin brackets on my 40" Delta Force. The boat is perfect, but I had to go to a much bigger bracket to fully support the turn fin.
I think your trim tabs are mounted too low. You want about an 1/8th" between the hull bottom and the bottom of the trim tabs.
David, I checked it and it has a tiny bit of "concave" to it but its fairly symetrical.................may have to straighten it out one day.
Anyways....................took big yellow out today and ran a whopping 30 feet til i hit a stump i guess............never hit anything in ths lake before...............pushed the rudder up far enough where i had no steering and had to throw the rescue boat out to get it back, the shear pin worked perfectly.................dinged up the rudder a bit(hard to see it in the pic), but the worst part is the prop, one blade pretty mangled. So no go on the turn fin test run............ Did sneak in a run with Vader though!! 6 solid minutes of WOT in a BIG course with wide turns........that was a blast.
Those giant fins look like they're going to be in the water in the straights. Going to be weird. My wild things hated the giant fins. Perfectly straight they were fine. Slight corrections in direction would dip the fins in the water and drag the boat in that direction. Leftrightleftrightleftrightleft. Different boats though. You'll have to see how it goes.
I would have left the small fins on and raised the outside tabs some. That will keep the nose up a touch when you turn. Once the nose plants it's going to hook.
Got a new rudder in..........this time its not the "tapered" one...............may give more bite in the turns. Put a 457/3 on and moved the turnfins back and up a bit.....................should run tomorrow!
