If there is a GPS App for an I-phone , surely that would include being compatable with my new IPad2 ??? If so I am also interested in this thread !!!!

The app would mean sticking your phone in the cockpit of your boat which would be ok but a ipad?

Here's a "video radar" iphone app where you use the iphone camera to get the object's speed-- I have no idea how well it works...

Why would anyone put their phone in a boat? If its capable of having a gps app, the phone cant be inexpensive. Get a gps, unless you want your phone ruined. Phones in rc boats is one of the most rediculous things ive read of. A gps can be had far cheaper than a phone.

                    Hi Guy's ,

Don't know if I would even attempt using my new Ipad to gain a speed reading , just working out its features & capabilities . Will be a buying a waterproof E - Trex for speed reading purposes in the near future ....

OK guys,it's called "speed view" in the droid app department. We recommend a good sealed bag with air in it to put in your boat.Double it up if you want.I take no responsibility for an $800 phone in a $300 boat,I do not have such a phone, only commented that I knew someone with that app.

when I used my phone in my boat I found out it was not very accurate.
I used multiple apps with about same result on an iphone
anywhere from 5-7mph range up or down since the phones don't always have good reception and go in and out.
The actual gps units seam to lock onto the satellites better and give a much better/accurate reading.

This is what I have found anyways take your phone in the car with you and use the gos and you can see for yourself when you speed up or slow down it does not keep up unless you stay same speed for a while was my results form my testing.
