Hi all in the process of mounting trim tabs and turn fins on Finch Wild thing my ? on the plans it shows the trim tabs fairly close to the keel and the port and starboard turn fins are a fair way in from the chine .What would be the reason for having tabs and fins so close to keel ? I have always been instructed to keep turn fins and trim tabs as far away from the keel and closer to the chine area for for effective triming off the mono . Would there be any other factors coming into play here?Regards Andris Golts.

If possible try it without the tabs first, my 25"er runs great without them. I did put a set on, to try, took them off as I didn't find it needed them
The inner pair are for adjusting the attitude in a straight line, the outer can be adjusted separately for turns, of course the inner ones effect the turn attitude as well.
The turnfin on mine is at the extreme starboard corner, perpendicular to the bottom, it just barely touches water in the straights. Started out with a longer one and trimmed it back a fair bit.
Also tried a pair of strakes on the bottom, They are not full length, jury is out on that one still, needs more testing. Might help a bit in rougher water, seems to ride over the waves a little smoother. Only have one good rough water test with the strakes.
Been working on this boat for about 2 seasons, going to build another for N2 using what I've learned on this one.If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment
