    Paypal question

When you "gift" paypal are you still covered by the buyers protection plan?
Im about to pull the trigger on an item but the seller wants me to gift it to save on the 3%

send the sale price and add 3% on top.
if seller screws you over, you still have paypal claim ability.

a gift has NO claimback facility...

haha member here sold me 150 of motor.. he mistyped email addy from phone  !
paid as gift as requested.. someone else got money said Nahhhh Nahhhhh .

I wouldn't trust anyone you don't know. I've had issues with people especially with high price items. I would do it by the book to cover your own behind. Had a guy buy one of my boats on ebay and he said he had seen it on here, I sent it and had insurance but didn't send it recorded. He said he never got it. The thing that was strange is he didn't contact me to ask where it was he just filed a claim with PayPal. I would do what covers you the most.
