Jim... No worries... I think there actually would be some support of separate SAW and Oval Racing rules... We've sort of already headed down this path with the "Time-Trial Only" classes... I can see where it would make some sense. In this context, I'm not sure that any length limits, however, would be accepted... I think people would opt to setup the rules to allow the power to shine fully and take a more "skies the limit" approach, based on conversations I've had and overheard...

Thanks Darin. I've always loved "BIG" boats, and I think I can do well with my 50 1/2" Aeromarine hydro, and 44" Avenger Pro cat in heat racing next year. I love small boats too, but I can only fit so many boats in my Kia Soul. Plenty of room for two SAW boats though. Hope to see you again at Legg Lake. JIMJIM MARCUM: NAMBA 777; EX? Well... the PIA part hasn't changed, but I think I've mellowed with age... OR, maybe I'm one of those that is just too busy working/building/racing to worry about it much these days?? I certainly don't miss the bickering/controversy...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

An old thread full of timid and inexperienced FE racers discussing what path FE should take when LiPo's hit the scene
You key board racers that have have open water should be practicing. You key board racers that have hard water should be in your shop building faster boats. There are a few of us that are gunning for ya! :)

We've all evolved Darin. Your delivery is much more digestible now that you're an old man. Now you don't tell me I'm an idiot. You just toss out the smart bomb and wait for me to draw my own conclusion.
That is weird to read those old Robichaud postings. Makes all this stuff seem kind of.....I don't know..... insignificant don't it?Noisy personComment

Hey, since when did I disappear??? Maybe I should update my email address on the boards.
I do recall thinking that some smart a$$ would build big killer power setups that would dominate the smaller hulls....gee who would have done that???
Terry, I kept Dougs cell # on my phone untill this year. I just couldn't hit the "erase" key. Didn't seem right.Comment

For all of the drama back then, I happen to think that the hobby is much stronger now and that the rule-set we have now is very manageable and makes for some great racing. Do you have to tailor the whole package?? OF COURSE... Just like they do in Formula "UNE" (Talladega Nights reverence... for those of you who might have missed that...)

The Max. lengths were put in there for good reasons.
We have NO weight limits for cells.
NO P limts
As I have said many times before
Motors, ESC's, and Batteries will change, But the ruler never changes.
If your N2 boat is too fast. you should learn to set it up so you can finish all races.
This has kept boats of equal size and power in the class.
