    Hor shovelnose

    Hi

Has anybody built one of the HOR Shovel Nose? Any comment about the hull quality?

I own several hull types but not a Shovel Nose ......They do look sweet and like a timeless beauty......

      Hi Ray

Very nice and clean build. I'm just surprised there is not more information about it on the Internet.

Can I ask you what's the weight like? I once had a catamaran bought from Frankie on EBay and it weight like a tank....

      Cheers

Don't know why more people don't run this hull, most people seem to scratch build out of wood if they are doing a Vintage hydro. LOL I'm one of them, I've built the Finlay Vintage shovelnose in a few different sizes now from 1/16 to 1/10 scale. Depending on how far you want to go on the details it's a pretty easy build, and the plans are available from a number of places for free download.
Went a bit overboard on the details on my 1/10 it's a 1957 Miss Wahoo, been over 10 months so far. It has working wet sponsons, everyplace you can see on the inside with the hatch on has had mahogany veneer laminated on so it looks like the mahogany ply the original was built from. Even cut mahogany and oak stringers for inside the sponsons, in case somebody looks in there with a flashlight!
Oh well Canadian winters are long and dark 6:45 am and it's still pitch black outside, sunset at 4:34 pm, still a while 'till the shortest day of the year!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

It's a standard nitro layup, not tissue paper but certainly not a tank. At 26.75 inches (not 28) it's a little small to compete with the Whips and Phil Thomas boats over here.
