    props and motors

    Hello out there,
    Hopefully someone can help me with a problem.I am building my second boat,which is the Genesis.I am running 2x2075kv motors,2x 125amp hk esc.Also 2x4cell lipo's.Could someone help me with this,I would like to find out if I have to have one clockwise motor and the other counter clockwise.Not sure if that is how the motors run.What about props;does one have to be clock wise and the other counter clockwise.
    Sure would appreciate some input to guide me in the right direction.The first one I built is only a single drive.By the way;I am running two powertrims from a company in germany.One is left and the other is right.Make sure you get the ones with the BB's.They also come with teflon tube,flex cable and flex tube.The flex and tube's can be cut.I priced what it would cost to by everything separate and it seemed expensive.The powertrims are about $62.00 plus shipping.These guys are super fast with there shipping.It took only one week to get to me here in,British Columbia Canada.Faster than the stork service..... have a great day

    Your boat will prop walk on you without counter-rotation, but it will still be drive-able.

    With that Kv (not knowing the quality of motor, mass, or wind type) you could probably have a pretty good sport setup with speed using counter rotating X442s. You'd probably be pleased with that. Dasboata makes a nice set. Detounged and cupped.

      i have not run a cat with twins,but i built a deep v with twins,and after one run with props turning the same direction i switched to counter-rotating props.the torque-roll was just too scary!!turned great one way,but hang on the other way!!i think you should have rt.prop turning clock-wise,lt.counter-clock-wise.just my thoughts,good luck.....john

        If your Genesis came stock with two L hand props, give it a try that way. If you aren't racing it you can still have fun the way it came. From videos of the Genesis it doesn't show a lot of prop walk. For racing twin motor cats Counter Rotating props are the way to go. You will need a R hand flex drive & matching L/R hand props. Switch any two of the motor leads on the Starboard motor to reverse rotation. Keep an eye on the starboard (Right) prop nut as it will tend to losen up.

        I'm going thru the same thing with my Apparition twin. Play with it stock - Race it CR.

            The one I have is a Genesis and it came with a single motor.Tore that out and got some power trims for it.I did have two motors in but I decided that I did not want to use them so I waiting for a Leopard 2700kv moter.Either the 3674 or the 4078.I might not be able to use the 4078 because off the size.Trying to install motors in this thing,sure tries your patience because there is not much room to get your fingers in there and hexdriver.Try to turn it......So now time for a break before something else brakes......GRRRRRRRRRR!!

              How did you go with the Leopard motor? Looking at puting the same sort of thing in mine as already upgraded to 3/16 drive and X438 prop. Think i need a bigger prop if i do though.

                Hello;
                I finally went for 2x3674 bl motors along with 2 hk 125amp esc the props I will start with is the Octura x442,x442-r.The two motor setup is quite the challenge to install.The power trims along with the motor mounts came from Germany and the prices are great.If you need any info don't hesitate to ask. Best Regards

                  launchpad, a couple of questions. 1. What KV Leopards did you buy? 2. Power trims-What are they? If they are like the trim tabs used on mono hulls you don't need them on a cat, especially twin CR drives. Trim tabs on a cat only increase hydrodynamic drag, so I wouldn't use them. JIM

                    Hello;
                    The kv I have are 2650kv.If you want to see the powertrims I am referring to got to;www.rc-raceboats.de.This company is in Germany and there shipping is super fast.Also you can't beat the price.The powertrims come as one left and one right.If you do buy some make sure you get the ones with the ball bearings not a bushing.They also come with the flex cable,stuffing tube,and flex shaft.Everything you need for installation.They also have carbon fiber motor mounts made for the Genesis.Your looking at around $75.00 to $100.00 for it all.You can;t buy this here for that price.
                    If you have any more ? please ask. Best Regards

                      OK now I know what you are talking about. I call those things "Stinger Drives". Should work out fine for your twin motor cat build. JIM

                        I mentioned the part a powertrim because thats what they call it in Germany.When I described the parts I was not thinking about (stingers,even though thats what we call them.But thanks for the correction.

                          Once you get that puppy running, put one of those small Garmin GPSs in it & let us know how fast it is. JIM
