    preparing for paint

Man guys i thought this prep deal would be easy. after building the tub and sponsons on my rigger i sanded down all surfaces. after that i filled in the seams and voids in the wood with wood filler and sanded again. then i covered the parts with finishing epoxy. it dried to a sand like texture so i sanded and reapplied and sanded again. then i shot it with 2 coats of clear. when i layed the primer on it looked like i never sanded the thing. i am planning on a chrome base with green candy over it then clear coated. worried this will not give me a good job. do i put on more filler to get a smoother finish? seems like alot more prep then i figured. would putting on a coat of finishing epoxy and heating with a heat gun make for a better finish? please advise as im not sure where to go from here. thanks

I'd sand it down almost to the wood again, if you do hit the wood use a piece of plastic as a squegee and scrape on another layer of epoxy, you don't really want any build up. enough will soak into the surface of the wood to seal it.
Then primer it, sand and primer again until it's as smooth as you want it, you don't want a thick build up of primer, you should be sanding 95% of it off before you spray another coat, it's just to fill the last minor imperfections.
i wet sand the last primer coat and use a sanding block,
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Read the finishing section of the Zippkits FE rigger instructions.
