    Rudder Placement

I know as a rule the rudder is placed on the left on hydros. But when i look at the speedmaster rudder
its designed to mount on the right side of the transom.I'm building a whip sport 20 and was wondering will it make any
difference in the handling being on the right.

Build it ambidextrous and then tell us what you like most. I have seen Whiplash built both ways left and right side.

Mounted on the right will make the hydro less likely to flip when you feed in some left rudder. With a large hooked turn fin, mounting the rudder on the right seems to work well on some hulls. I have run the rudder on both sides of the same hydro and didn't see any difference - but a different hull may see different results. It is generally best to follow the manufacturer's recommendation.

You can turn the SpeedMaster rudder around pretty easily, you will have to enlarge the "new" pivot pin hole.

Thanks guys I will just stick with mounting it on the left and modify the bracket to suit.
