    Turnigh 12s 240a esc wiring??????

I just got my first TURNIGY 12S 240A ESC today. Unfortunately, it came with no instructions, so I have a few questions:

    1. Is the (2) wire bare-ended lead for a BEC or what?
    2. It appears to have a resistor at the ESC connection. Could this be an anti-spark to charge up the caps?
    3. If yes, do I still need an anti-spark resistor in the main battery leads?
    4. What is the switch for? Power to the ESC, BEC, anti-spark or ???
    5. In what sequence do I hook up/ turn on the receiver leads & switch?

The ESC's circuit boards are exposed on both ends. If I seal them up with silicone, will that make it run too hot (even with the water cooling)?

Scratching my head in San Diego. THX, JIM

I have a T240a hv and mine is exactly the same as my Swordfish 240a hv. Yours looks to be a bit different but i bet its still a Hifei. The Switch is ON/OFF for the ESC, and all those leads are for manual programming...........wonder why it looks different......even different than the hobbyking pics.

I bought it from Hobby King. Their pic only shows the ESC, not all the wires. Can I plug in the batt leads (switch off) without getting all sparky? Or just put in an anti-spark resistor in the batt lead? JIM

The y cable is used to plug it into USB linker for programing on the computer.

The Y lead as pictured above is to program the esc with Tx/Rx .
To program the esc via Tx/Rx, one needs power to the control board

The lead combines Rx(Th) and an external 6V source to power up that board.
Photo #2, put Rx battery to red/black.. and 'servo' plug into Rx(Th).. the Rx batt feeds to Rx also.

Similarly the USB linker has 2 leads.. one for esc Th, and one for the power plug..

Spend $20 and buy the USB................................ Steve sells them here at OSE.

Antispark is always a good idea ... saves plugs and caps.

I use a 6 cell nimh to power the ESC while using the harness to program the ESC via the manual toggleswitch board. The diagram is in the link i posted.

I make sure the ESC is off when i plug in..............no way around the huge 10s pop unless you install a spark resistor/eliminator..............i then hold full throttle and switch it to on. When i hear the first beep i release to neutral and she's ready!

OK. I can program it with the "beep" method.

I didn't get a program disk with the ESC from Hobby King. Anyone out there that can make a copy of theirs, please?

Lastly, I still need to know if sealing the ESC's open ends with silicone would cause any over heating problems. Comments?
