Has any one modded a 36"Shackwave.

    Hi every buddy
I need some help with this.

I have a 36"shock wave that is fe now,
My esc cap temps are 160f and up some times is that to hot for them ?
    Boat setup is,
36"Mono, All stock hardware except for coupler and prop, Motor is a Feigao 9xl 1898kv,
Esc is a Turnigy marine 120a and programed setting are 2 4 3 3 with card,
Cell are Turnigy 4s2p 40c to 50c 3000mah and 5.5 bullets all the way.
Ran today with a p230 for 4 minute runs and gps at 42.5mph,
All temp cool 98f, Just caps where ,160f, 198f.
I just added two 35v 1000uf caps to the esc I think it helped some.

    Also,
Do the stock turn fins help or hurt the handling of this hull ?
Having side to side wobble at top speeds of 40mph + going in a straight line.

    Thanks for any information.

How long are your leads from battery to ESC?I shortened mine up on my MG and temps dropped considerably. It lowered the voltage ripple markedly.35%.

Yes, Not bad speeds so far and I think their more there.
Ran today 3 minutes runs, Temps were, run 1# Caps 134f ,esc 90f ,cells 85f , motor 115f, 39.4 gps.
I think my temp gun could be a problem, I will test more today.
I need to stop this hull from wobbling at top speeds,
Going to move strut up a little and see what it does,
Also try proping down to stop death wobble at top speed.

Thanks or any help with this.

I hadn't shortened the battery leads but I think I took a couple inches off the ESC.I'm not sure because it went off to Castle. But I read in a thread here somewhere they shouldn't be longer than 8" ,ideally. Most batts have 4" each side so theres your 8".I was able to read the difference on the Ice 240 logs.

Ok run it tonight in the dark with some rigged LED on it and a spot light rigged on the tx,
                45F out and clear sky's.
                Caps temps after 4 minutes run were 147 f and esc 98 f, motor 110 f, cells 93 f, The cells were turnigy 2 x 4s2p 40c 3000mah. gps at 40.5

                Next run was 9 minutes and caps temps were 160 f, esc 98f, motor 115 f, cells 100f, The cells were turnigy 2x 2s2p 40c 5000mah. gps at 41.5

I think it got on plane faster now and out of the hole better to,

But still have the wobble at top speed.

Little hard to see what its doing in the dark.

Testing some more tomorrow with smaller props to see if that stops the wobble.

lifting the strut should drop the boat into the water more, do you have trim tabs?

Yes, Stock hardware it came with.
But the stock turn fins are vertical and not sure if they should be changed like normal ones ?

                    Thanks for any input.

How is that stock hardware stuff? In your opinion. As you know I've been hunting for one of these for a bit now and found a new blowout priced one but I don't know if I would wanna use the stock hardware or not.And getting rid of a nitro engine these days .Glad to hear 40 though.Thats all I want on the waves.

Sounds like great speeds on that size hull with a 9xl

                          Hi,
The stock hardware is old school stuff,
Like and old car chrome job that still shines good.
It could be modded some, If needed to be, It stainless steel and aluminum.
I was thinking of adding 1" to the rudder bracket and see what it does in testing,
Turn fins I am not sure what to do with, They are setup stock vertical,
And I may bend them to go with the v of the hull and see what happens.

Anybody have any input on that ? ( With the turn fins )

                          Thanks.
