Remote trimable outboard?

I was thinking the same thing with the screw drives powered by a micro servo maybe. And connected to a flexible cable system like a bike brake cable but smaller.
Ill start playing with ideas as soon as I have the hull in hand. Hopefully 2moro but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Stupid usps says est. Delivery was the 16th... yea right.

My son and I have run outboard trim units in nitro for some time. Have won OB Worlds and US-1's with them. They are perfectly legal. We use a third channel pistol grip with the up/down button on the grip. Nomadio and Flysky have them. Was easier to drive with preset down and up settings as in heat racing you would overtrim trying to hit the perfect setting. Basically we had an upwind and downwind setup. Worked best breaking the props loose out of a corner then lay it back down mid straightaway to set up the next turn.
The downside is they wear as you have to pivot on the upper bolt and even with bearings you get side to side slop. The bottom pivot is just a cam inside the swivel block. Using a cam you take all the pressure off the servo and up or down uses a standard size 130oz servo. We did find them to not make lap times any faster and they were worthless on .21's as the hulls to delicate to handle any ill handling created by slop.
Ernie LeFluer made my first unit and with his blessing I had Dave Roach make a few more. Cool idea but practical application to heat racing was not consistent and consistent wins heat racing.

Boat showed up today. Gonna run it as is atleast once before I start this project. When my villain is finished ill start on fab for the mount and go from there. Ill start a thread in the build sect when I do.

Well I've been playing with motors on the hornet so far. I have a new lower leg on the way and I'm looking into another tunnel hull. Ill start messing with fab on a remote mount over the winter months here. The hornet is gonna need some reinforcement before I put any serious power to it so its gonna be a tester for this idea.

Here's a glimpse at something I engineered 20 years ago and still works today.
FlySky 3rd channel allows adjustable trim of between +-5 to about +-15 degrees from neutral trim position.
Trim adjustments happen in about 1/2 a second or less.
Have replaced the original antique JR Propo 10Kg Jumbo (plastic gears) with a HiTek 26Kg steel geared unit.
Titanium bell-crank and linkages. Push rod is 4mm brass.
Rear jacking/pivot plate is aluminium riding on 6mm nylon bolts either side with silicon fuel line used as shock absorb bushing.
Note the push-pull steering is flexible cable to allow for trimming movements.

You can clamp the motor/leg in a vice and the entire boat trims up and down so there's no shortage of torque.
I have found, that with practice, there is no need to back off the throttle in cornering and the old Prather LapCat sits just on the prop and last 50mm of it's tail in the straights.
This boat originally ran a K&B .67 nitro until the inevitable conrod failure.
It now has a Neu-Castle 1518 1Y 5000mA LiPo and a Seaking 180A ESC.
