    How to mount stuffing tube?

Hi, I need some help as to the best way of doing this, I am building a single genesis and have been told by my local hobby shop to glue the mount in first and then drill the hole for the stuffing tube, but I just want some advice as what works best

    Thanks

    Install your Hardware.
Get a piece of flex cable about 2 or so inches long. Install the collet on the motor and install the piece of flex cable in the collet.
Now install the motor in the mount and place it where it will be mounted. the piece of flex cable will point at the hull floor where the hole needs to be drilled.
Drill the hole and elongate it front to back to allow for the tubes angled entry into the hull.
Cut and bend your stuffing tube to meet both the cable and the strut.
Once the tube is in place, tape the gaps between the bottom outside of the hull and tube to prevent any epoxy leaks.
Scuff up the inside of the hull and the outside of the tube where it enters the hull for the epoxy to grab hold.
Get a scrap "O ring" and use it to create a dam around the tube where it enters the hull from the inside.
Fill the o-ring with epoxy, when cured, remove the o-ring and you're done.

Cheers! I guess I also need to get the level of my strut sorted as I can't see much room or adjustment once the stuffing tube is installed

Keep in mind the CG (center of gravity) when placing your motor

That thread didn't cover how to the flex cable pointing out where to drill, but thanks anyway

you mentioned the o-ring, it was vague to me so I just thought i'd post it up, it's also a good thread.

I do pretty much the same except I use a drop or two of CA to glue the motor mount in position just before I'm ready to glue the tube in. I then slide the full length shaft through the hardware up the tube and into the collet on the motor, then glue the stuffing tube in place.
Once that has hardened I pop the motor loose and epoxy it in making small adjustments until the cable exits the stuffing tube dead centre when the flex shaft is tightened into the motor collet.
I personally use JB weld for this but any good slow cure epoxy will work, only failure's I've had were when I was young and used lepages 5 minute epoxy on a polyester resin hull. LOL eventually everything popped off that boat at some point.
I really like that O-ring tip, easier than masking tape or plastercine!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I mounted mine level with the bottom of the boat and it seems to run fine as a starting off point
