Eagle Tree data logger is the best way to check the amp draw. It records a run and then you plug it into your computer to get the info off of it.

If you are in the market for a new ESC you can get both an ESC and a data logger in one. The Castle ICE controllers feature logging, and the HydraICE 240 is a stout ESC. I used it in my recent SAW record attempts pulling over 300 amps for almost 40 passes without a hickup. I was able to download the amp draw, rpm, voltage, ripple current, etc. onto my laptop at the lake. This helped me a lot in optimizing my setup.

I use an older model Garmin Geko 101 GPS, bought it used off eBay for $70 several years ago. There is one on eBay right now for $25......

I use a Garmin Etrex H and has been fully submerged a few times. Still working great. I think its waterproof, if I remember right.

I use my cell phone with the app "android speedometer". Which records both average and top speed.
