Need Some Brushless Motor / ESC Help

I've got a Castle Creations Mamba 4200KV brushless motor made for the 1/18th scale cars but I don't have a speed control. Can I use this motor in a Proboat Mini-V or Mini-Cat and how well would it work?

I've also seen other people use brushless aircraft speed controls in their boats... would one of these work fine with the above motor? And what makes these aircraft speed controls so much cheaper than the one's for the 1/18th scale cars?

    Thanks for the help!

That motor may work. A 35 to 40 amp esc would be a good idea. For the best setup I would contact Deigoboy here on the forum. He has upgraded proboat mini hulls with great results. He will have better setup up advice.

Not sure on the current draw of your setup, but there is a company called cool running. They built tremendous mini bl esc's for a low cost. I have a version of their esc that I have literally tried to blow up with double the amps and all it did was shut the esc down. www.coolesc.com
