    Hull choices rtr

Which is better for speed? Cats or monos ? I will be bashing ponds..Really I want to get a rtr boat, trash the stock esc/motor and replace it with a more efficient more powerfull system to get up into the 50's or better reliably..What would be better? a Mystic or a Impulse 31?

The Geico with a 120A ESC on 6S and the right prop will get you in to 50. Don't know about the Impulse, but a Deep v will handle chop better. But the MG hull corners like no other.

Yeah Im getting a 120 esc. What motor would go well in the Mystic on 6 s...I already have a x642 and a 42x55..
Yeah the MG does corner well..Ive never ran any other boat than the MG..I just didnt know if a Deep v was more stable..

Hell what would be the best route to go to have a boat that does 50+ and is reliable..A Built one? I dont necessaryily have to get a rtr..I just want a awesome boat that is around 30+ inches..

You answered your own question. buy a quality bare hull and install the components you desire. A cat or a mono is up to you, as they both have design features that favour certain water conditions etc.

If you want to build a fun sporting boat to toss around the pond and a mono hull is a consideration, think about building one with a flood chamber. You can get pretty crazy with it and not worry about rollovers (I am working on an intentional barrel roll maneuver-- get her up to speed and then a slight left-right jiggle on the controls- I can get a nice one every now and then...)

I run a Toysport Syncron-- it is 29", has a flood chamber, and I'm running in the mid 50's (neu1515 1Y, 240A ESC, 4S1P, x440 prop). Unfortunately, this isn't a cheap hull... I probably went overboard on the motor and ESC-- if I did it again I would try a leopard 4074 2200KV motor with 120A ESC which would same some $$, but the config I am running now is very fast and reliable (what's that saying in somebody's sig? Cheap/Fast/Reliable-- pick 2 out of 3).

While it is an expensive hull, it comes with the flood chamber installed, and you can get it with all of the hardware installed as well-- just need to add the motor/ESC/RX and make a few adjustments. This was my first build so I didn't want to mess around with drilling holes in the hull, etc.

          Here's my build thread
          http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...hlight=syncron

Here's the syncron running against my friend's Ms. Geico which was running 1800KV on 5S1P (I was using a x637 prop here). We are running pretty close to the same speed in the beginning, although at the end I'm able to pass and pull away (probably a difference in lipo packs-- my hyperions hold their voltage pretty well)

One other thing to think about-- at these speeds, the 4S1P packs don't last that long-- 3.5-4min. I don't think there is room in the syncron to run a 4S2P config. If you want longer runtime with a 4S2P pack, then Toysport also makes the Triton, which is 31" long, and also has a flood chamber (my son runs that boat). It is a more stable hull as well. His boat is running a CC1518 1800KV motor with a x642 prop, and on 4S2P 5000packs (10000mah total), he is getting about 8min runtime at about the same speed. He could also goose it up to 5S2P with that motor and probably hit close to 60mph.
