need kyosho twin storm brushless fast

I own a kyosho twin storm and I'm new to boats (18 years in cars and trucks)and I need to make it alot faster. I saw on you tube a boat converted to sv27 motor and esc with a x648 prop and it looked fast. Is that a good combo or should I purchase seperate items that might work better with a bigger boat than a sv27 and also my boat has a gear box in it and I would prefer a bolt in set up that would still use the gearbox if possible. I'm the kind of guy that wants to do it right the first time not whats the cheapest. I'm planing on running 12-14 cells of 4200-5000 nimh because thats what I already have. Thanks for you help.

we had twinstorms that were pretty quick. What we used was a feiago 9l with the stock gear box. We also used a hydra 120. It was a prety good set up.

I sold quite a few of the setup that Hkusp45 mentioned. Thats why I carry the 9L with a 1/8" shaft. The problem is that 62 bugzilla also emailed me and wants 45-50mph. The hull would have to be totally gutted to even attempt that.

Another thing to consider is hull compreshion. When some abs hulls are pushed really hard the bottom of the boat will deform causing whats called a hook. The resulting drag will slow the boat and build heat in the power system. I havent owned one of these hulls yet so I'm unsure of the thickness. If you are looking for 50's a fiberglass hull may be the only way to get there.

I to think that 50mph is a dream in the twin storm.

Reinforce the hull with expandable foam, I did that to my Super Hawaii and its now rock solid.

                    thanx

Thanx for the input. I'm pretty new to boats so maybe I'll start with a set up in this boat at allittle slower speed at first and upgrade to faster sv27 or bj26 later. Maybe I'll look for a used esc of 100 amps or more and buy a new fuego 9l since that shaft size is pretty specific which is nice because it's a bolt in item. Should I use the x648 prop as mentioned on you tube or something else? What kind of speeds should I expect out of this setup. Around 35 ?
