MHZ Mystic 1350, Newbie questions

Hello everyone... I'm new to OSE. My name is Gary, I live in Boulder City NV, next to Lake Mead. I've toyed around with RC's over the years, I use to fly planes then got into trucks, but all have been gas powered...I don't have a clue when it comes to electric stuff. I've prowled around this site picking up information here and thereand I've finally decided to chime in. I'm looking to build a Mystic 1380 from MHZ. And my basic question is what is the recipe to building a fast boat on a moderate budget... Motors, most bang for the buck? The appropriate ESC's and batteries?

welcome to the forums Gary. hmm, moderate budget and that size boat do not go hand in hand. Your 3k EASY. realistically for abot that size, good motors will be more than the gassers we run. Escs will be at least as much..... thin of it like this. How much would it coest to put 4 modded zens in a 72" hull? theres your FE boat.

I did a so called "budget" 45" cat (avatar pic) and still went over 2k

Just noticed, 1350 is a bit over 50".... mid 2k outta do it

Well, I'm guessing my "budget"/cost will be around $3.5k to $4k... Not exactly an inexpensive hobby... lol

then your golden. Search for threads containing HPR and MHZ hulls as well as some of the big DF v hulls etc. Im beginning to gather parts for a 60" cat. Planning on castle 2028 motors on 10S (37v per side) and going to start with the Sword fish 240A esc's.

Making zero progress so far. lol Between Christmas and work haven't had the money yet, but I'm still hopefull to start this spring

If I was to do this on the cheap, I would consider twin 3994 turnigy and twin swordfish 240Hv on 12s. That's over 10hp I think it would fly! 57 props or similar my 10c
