Any tips on a df29 build???????

I ended up with a spare CC 1515 1y and figured I should fit this in a hull, without putting too much thought into it I decided a Delta Force 29 would make a nice addition to the stable.
I have ordered the hull and here's what I'm thinking:

    Df29 hull,
    seaking 180 speedo,
    CC1515 2200kv motor,
    4s2p 10000mAh 45-90c Nano techs,
speedmaster stinger strut, 3/16 hughey flex, speed master 4" set back tappered dual pickup rudder, medium turn fins and angled trim tabs.
    I'm thinking of bolting on a x442 that's had the tongues removed, a x642, a m445 and maybe a m545 and if they go well I have a m645 and a x646 on there way.
I have ordered some carbon/kevlar cloth to line the inside of the hull for strength, can anyone offer any advice, eg tips that you wish you did when you built your df29??????

You are on the right course, the strut you may want to cut back, try it without the fins and trim tabs as long as the boat hull is setup correctly, X642 modified might be a good choice but the X442 is a great starting point.

thanks Douggie. That's a good tip, I would have fitted the tabs and fins first up before trying the hull without them.
I've read older posts with guy's saying around 28% cog from the back of the transom, if I run the longer stinger strut should I be aiming around 26-27% ?? and would you say 60-65mph is out of the question??

I agree with Douggie, I have my strut cut back, had turn fins and trim tabs and took them off. The boat is more stable and faster without them. You should have a great running boat with that setup you listed. X642 is a good prop, I run up to a m445 on calmer water, speed is 57mph but things warm up so you'll have to watch your temps. Try keeping the cg very close to 28%, to much more and you'll run wet. There are a couple videos in my You Tube section on it running.

How do you think think grimracer 40x52 3blade will run on this set up?

I have no idea, but the X442 as you described is a great starting point, the X642 is a good choice. Send PMS to egneg or to the piss tank andym on this forum as they know how to mangle props.

                m445 = 50 mph.

I took 2.5 cm off leaving a length of 60mm measured form transom to end of the strut. Also my rudder is 62mm from transom to leading edge. I see you have a setback of 4 inches so it may affect the handling if the strut is cut shorter but hopefully someone that has experienced this setup with a longer rudder can chime in.

Cool?, how are your temps and run times?

I have a toysport syncron which is pretty close to your hull-- also run a neu 1515 2200kv, 4s1p.

I was using a x637 prop, getting about 50 mph. One day I dinged up the prop so used a backup-- x440 which has less total pitch than the x637-- but I ended up picking up more speed and ran cooler... I think the higher pitch prop could not allow the motor to run at it's optimum rpms.

You'll need to experiment with a bunch of props to find the best match ...

The batteries get a little warm but and the t180 gets warm to the touch but the ose jacket keeps this motor cool as for the run times maybe 2.5 mins or so wide open maybe longer I have more than one set of lipos and take multiple boats so time just kind of slips away

I appreciate the feedback guy's, all good. I just remembered I have a x440/3 on it's way too, that might be another one to try. I think your right, trial and error with a little thought should find the right one. I'll be happy enough with 4-5 minutes at 50+mph, but I would like to run a few faster/shorter runs to see if it'll pass the 62mph mark too though.

I received the package today, Steve, your the man!! Thanks for the quick shipping.
The hull seems to be so easy to lay up, plenty of room to fit the motor and esc down the middle and have the lipo's either side with heaps of room for cog adjustment. I'm looking forward to this build, my first mono lay up was a failure, and the fix up wasn't much better. My 2nd mono build was a lot better and runs well so I'm hoping my third mono will be a fast and reasonably stable boat off the bat.
