John,
I have used the Miss Unlimited hull, or some variation of it, on 3 boats. The 1st ( My Gypsy), is the Miss Unlimited. The 2nd (Miss U.S.)) I used the 2.18 rule,-the tunnel width multiplied by 2.18 will give you the ideal distance from the back of the sponson to the leading edge of the prop- to widen the hull for a bit more stability. The 3rd (Tempo), I used the "footprint" of the Miss Unlimited and built up from there. In all 3 I used a .150-3/16 flex shaft, with a trans mounted strut. The all run flat and in the low to mid 40's.
I'm not a big fan of solid shafts. This is what works for me. IMHO.

I think the guys in the U.S North West run a solid shaft in their vintage 1/10 hydro class.
here is how they have to be set up, I'm working on a 1957 1/10 miss wahoo that I went overboard on the scale details that will be running a solid shaft as per the original if I ever finish adding stuff! If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment
