Question from Anyone who owns a Mystic Cat from HMZ

My boat is a 72" C5000 that I just got and assumed that the optional windshields were all the same. Anyway, My extra windshield is a piece of contoured plastic that is thinner than the one that is built in the hatch cover, and it is also white in color. Now I'm not real smart, but why would anyone want to remove the white windshield that comes molded in the hatch and replace it with another piece of white plastic. It looks to me like the best thing to do would be to mask around the one in the hatch cover, paint it either black, purple, silver, what ever color you want, add a few reflection highlights and clearcoat. Why even cut it out at all? Is anyone else's windshield like this?

    Thanks Guys,

    Will

    Bill,

Although it seems like it would look cool to have a clear windshield, you are way better off to have a strong solid hatch with a painted-on or vinyl windshield. When that big cat blows over, you'll need the hatch to be super strong. The pretty clear windshields cave in, or pop out, and then you've got mass quantities of water in the hull. When you get that Mystic cat finished, bring it over here to Katy, Texas some Saturday. We'd love to see it run.

Where exactly is Katy? I've heard of it, but don't know where it's located. I live in Arp, TX It's about 18 miles each way on Hwy 64 between Tyler and Henderson.

      Thanks for the comeback,

      Will

Alright, I know where Katy is now. I'll keep you in mind man. I haven't done many of these boats, most have been either gas or nitro. I have still got the very first boat I ever built. It is a Steve Muck shallow V with an Enya 60. I have another with an OS 65 VRM and the last one I built was a 60" Supercat that I paid $700 for the paint job and have never put it back together since getting it out of paint over a year ago. I have got two brand new RCMK's with clutches and all with built carb's and engine, piston and crank jobs done on them. The boat doesn't use two at a time, one is a spare.

          Talk to ya later,

          Will
