Is there a boat that could:

    a) run well and for a reasonable amount of time (4-5 mins.) on 3S1P 2200mah 40C packs (one or a pair)

    b) be fun (ie: no constant flipping/rescuing) in bumpy water (my normal boating venue is a large lake)

I am drawn by the neat little Minimono, as I already have some 3-cell 1300mah packs that I use in a small seaplane (Seawind EP). But I have lots of 3S1P 2200 LiPos in my collection, and I'd like to find a boat they'd be ideal for. They don't seem to be too handy for boating from what my very limited exposure has shown. Am I wrong?

The only boat I've found that seems like it might fit my requirements is this: http://www.nitrorcx.com/99b-10016-bl...0-ep-artr.html

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

PS- My first and only RC boat is a ProBoat Mystic 29, if that helps put things in perspective.

For 4.5 minutes of run time with that pack you would have to average just 23 amps. That's just 275 watts, not a lot to move a 27" boat very fast - low 20s at best. It depends on what kind of performance you'd settle for. The referenced boat will flip, it is not self-righting. Perhaps an Eco type boat would work. Sorry, I have no recent experience with low powered boats.

Check out the little monos here: www.minicatracingusa.com. Theyare self righting. They also have an eco which is self righting.

Thanks for the MiniCat Racing tip. Very interesting... the little Velocity mono looks like fun. ARTR too.

I was also wondering about the Toysport Ozone... maybe on 3S2P? Would a pair of my 3S 2200mah packs in parallel have enough juice to run the Ozone? It's a very light boat... (except for the price!). Steve has them in stock here at OSE.

        Thanks again,

like rummy mentioned grab the minicat velocity mono. I love mine and its a blast! Plenty of runtime self righting and just a blast and meets both a & b of your requirements. I run on 3s 2200mah 15c Here's mine:

I bet the toysport ozone would be a great hull-- I have a toysport syncron on 4s1p and my son runs a toysport triton on 4s2p. The hulls are awesome.
            For a smaller boat on 3S1p, I rebuilt a tenshock mono1 hull with a flood chamber using a fiegao 380 10XL. I use a 2600mah 3s1p pack and get 4min runtime, and runs in the high 30's.

Here is my son running it last weekend, racing a nitro cat:

It sounds like a MiniMono class boat would suit you, around 15-18" long, self righting, and good for 6 minutes on 3s 1600mAh, the best one at the moment is the ETTI mini envoy.
