    2230 powered mono

I am looking for feedback on the hulls below and which one would be best suited to handle a 2230 with 10s 2p. I am leaning towards the DF Sniper since I have seen it run before but really don't no much about the others.
I plan on running 6 lap races and also 4 minute offshore races so handling chop is a must. Any other suggestions would be great but I do not want to go bigger than 48".
Is there a hands down choice which offers strength and great handling?

    Delta Force Sniper 44.5" x 13.125"
    Aeromarine XXX 45" x 13"
    Rico Offshore 48" x 13.5"

    Thanks,
    Mike

The DF sure is a proven winner amongst those. I almost got the XXX but decided at the last minute to get one of these 47" carbon/kevlar re-infoced hulls from promose hobby thru ebay. There are 4 of us now that run them..................we've pushed them into the low 70's with Castle 2028's on 10s2p with x457/3's.

Just thought i'd throw an option out there...................

      Mike,

The DF Sniper is an excellent choice and perhaps preferred by FE's guys as the cowl is easy to tape, it comes without rails so you can install power combo as you wish and they are great rough water hulls when heavy (it will be heavy). I would say it needs a little reinforcement like most of the other hulls to handle the power and potential flip.

You might also consider the DF41 as well. Other boats with good performance would be a RC boatworks Y6 mono, AC mono or Seaducer 44"

I have a sniper, but would have probably built the DF41 in hindsight.

Rico baby! Easy to tapeas well and will cut up bigger chop than the other two.

Thanks for all your input Guys!!

Make-a-Wake - Your Kevlar Mono rocks...thanks for the pictures and video. A good option

Tyler - Besides Saw racing, have you oval raced yours? Were you running 2p in your saw run?

Rumdog - Most people wouldn't even want to run their boat in that wind and chop your Rico 31 is running in. Awesome display of a pure winner.

Can you or anybody provide some input on the Rico Offshore?

Does MHZ offer something in this catagory?

          Thanks,
          Mike

            Mike,

I tried running it once in practice to make sure I could do a heat race. It ran OK, about 60 mph on 10S2P and made the 8 laps with some margin left over. I was not impressed as a smaller P or Q mono could almost go as fast and make the same distance although I could run through any race water with the big boat. I could have propped up more, but feared that 10,000mAh was not enough to be competitive.

In SAW's I have to run 2P, I was averaging 450A during the passes. The weight also helps keep the hull planted.

I have a full build thread here: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ght=10S+sniper

              Tyler,

Thank you for your feedback. I will check out your build.
Just for a reference, I am running a 2230 in a CF Stryker Cat, 10s2p 5500mah, Prather 265 for 6 lap heat racing. The batteries usually have about 25% left in them.
At the Nats I ran S&T Offshore with a 450/3 and it ran for 4min 30sec.
Just enough for the mill lap and to finish and bring it in. It weighs in 20lbs.

              Thanks,
              Mike

I run a AC Boats Lazer45 with a Neu 2215 1.5Y 8S2P. It runs low 60s with a x460/3 for the mile without temp or batt issues. When I raced it I ran a x457/3 ... too much speed for the conditions. I also have a Seaducer 44" wide body hull I run 10s1P and a 1527. Even with that mild a setup I had it up sniffing at 60mph this summer. It actually handles the speed a bit better than the lazer, but is real twitchy in anything less than ideal conditions. The biggest problem with the seaducers (I have a 29, 33, and 44) is the overall depth of the hull. Its tough to squeeze 4s+ packs in the boats. I run the offshore hatch on the 44" hull and it helps, but its so much easier to place your gear in more electric friendly deeper hulls.

Back to the Lazer, The AC is really great in the rough. Not as fast as the DF or DF-type copies, but handles well and is pretty consistent. Taping it is a pain, but manageable.

I would think you would want a 45"+ hull with that sort of power.

Great vid with the 2028. I want to put one of those in my next big boat.

                  Mike,

From my experience, the cats needed a lot less power for the same speed so I was cautious. I also built a AM Conquest with a 2215 1.5Y which runs every bit of 67-68 mph in heat trim and will run a 6-lap race on 10s1P 6500 mAh packs although I would almost use all the capacity. That build is here: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...arine+conquest
