Just wondering how you guys compare the handling/speed of the h&m evo2 to the insane fe30. i have yet to see either run/drive in person. Just trying to get some feedback from people that have both.
how does the evo2 compare to the fe30?

I have the Fe30, and it is super stable. We run 4s and UL-1 power, roughly 50mph and I have never flipped it or had it do anything bizzare. Basically full throttle all the way around the course regardless of the water conditions. (I did take it out once in 6" choppy water, and it does not like that much wave action, but race water or 1" to 2" chop and it rips.). I am pretty sure there are people who have had the boat to 70mph... so me running it at 50 is well within the operating range.Jim Stephens

It all depends on what your goals are. To begin with, the H&M is a 28" outrigger. The FE30 is a 30" Sport Hydro. Price wise, FD (if they have one) sells the H&M with hardware kit for $349, a FE30 with hardware is $330. Close enough. The E2 would be trickier to build with the narrow rigger tub (small fingers help); the FE30 has a wide open interior. With the same power (let's say UL-1 spec), the E2 should be a few mph faster being smaller, lighter, and having rigger sponsons on smooth water. The FE30 likely will be more stable in chop. Longevity over time, the FE30 should out-survive the E2 given the normal (or abnormal) usesages relative to crash survival.
Again, it boils down to what you're after. I'm obviously not trying to hide the vested interest I have in promoting the FE30 but if I personally had to make a choice, bias aside, I'd go with the FE30. A longer, trouble-free ownership would be the main consideration. Apart from side-by-side running, the few mph faster the E2 would go wouldn't be worth the extra potential hazards and wouldn't be visually noticeable running solo, speed-wise. I've run my P-Sport FE30 at full tilt into the shore bank on a race mill lap (don't ask) and it walked away. The E2 would have a hard time doing that.
Shameless sales pitch : I offer a build service for FE30's : [email protected] [you know that was coming !]
Either way, you'll have a nice boat. Good luck with your choice & enjoy2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap
