    Mrp miss bud hydro

I have an old abs mrp hydro. It has the old motor plate for running dual 550 motors. When I got this boat it was pretty beat up but it floats. I have never gotten it to run correctly. Does any one have any experience with modern power in this hull?

None here but those brushed motors probably put out in the 150w range so you wont need more than a single 3650-3660 BL motor to soup it up quite a bit.

Also what kind of prop should I put on it? Its got a solid 1/8th shaft so I'm limited to 1/8th props.

I have one of those. It has the original dual 550 motors feeding into a 1:1 trans. The original prop was a X431 plastic prop. I've read that they take on water pretty badly. But seeing is believing.
I got a lap out of it...before it started to sink. Been a shelf queen ever since. But I've also read that they were pretty fast in their time ~30 mph. I got maybe 20 mph. I might revisit it with a SV27 motor. They do look cool.

Kool I'm glad some one knows what I'm talking about. I have that prop on my other mrp hydro so that helps. I think I'm gonna try the vxl on 2s after I patch the hole above the rudder. I am missing the cowl so I have to get creative to seal it off...

When I first got into boats brushless had not come out yet so I put a brushed motor in mine

I took the solid shaft out and put a flex in it as it let me use other props

Boat is long gone(gave it to another club member)
It ran alright with the brushed motor but a newer brushless would work better as it would be lighter (like a SV 27 motor and esc or UL1 set up)
I ended up spliting my hull apart at the seams so I could get the bulk head out that went across at the front of hatch opening so I could slide my batteries farther forward (at the time I started with NIMH but switched to Lipos)
There was space to run one one each side
It ran much better this way with the COG closer to the front
Some of these boats had a rear ride suface on each side at back of hull (mine did) and I ended up cutting them off so there was less drag

What did you use to attach the hull to the deck?

I took my time to get the hull apart so the seam still had a good overlap and I just used super glue
A couple of spots did not come apart so well and the lip broke off and I used some epoxy
Had no water leaks when done

Mine does not have the rear ride pads. Thanks for the pix. I think I'm gonna have to pick up a few parts and convert mine like that. I really wanna see what its capable of.
