    4mm to.... 3/16 dog forks?

    Hi everyone.
Ive got some drive dogs, 4mm ones, and 3/16 ones, however i need to find out whether or not you can buy the 4mm drive dogs, with the 3/16 size ..forks? to hold the prop?
Ive got a shim for the 642 on the 4mm shaft, but its got a bit of play in it because the prop has bigger spacing than the drive dog.
    any help!? thanks

Yeah i had a quick look but i dont think i could even modify it.
im sure someone here will just say "Oh upgrade the entire drive shaft to 3/16" but yeah..
I dont have tools to make one
Im starting to think i might just have to use a 3/16 drive dog with a shim, with a hole cut into it for the screw to go through... not sure if its a good solution though

Ive already got a shim that slides over the 4mm drive to get the 3/16 prop to fit well, but its the fork bit at the front of the prop.
Say if you hold the drive dog still, you can rotate the prop 1 or 2 mm
I found that after running it, it was starting to show a bit of wear on the shim.

Lose the band-aid idea and just swap it out for the apropriate gear.

this is definitely the best option, and more reliable.
you may end up spending just as much time and money trying to fix it than swapping it.

Use a shim and a 3/16 drive dog with a longer grub screw, drill a hole in the shim so the grubscrew locks onto the shaft itself through the shim.
It's a band aid set up but it might work.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

that's the shim i was gonna send him, it also extends to cover the prop too.

Cool, didn't know they were long enough to do that, thought it might only do the width of a prop.
Did you buy it or make it, if made what diameter tubing did you use?

I had the tube lying around, it was a year ago i made it so i don't remember, take the 4mm shaft to the LHS and find some tubing that slides over it, the OD should be 3/16
PM me your addy and I'll shove it in an envelope.

LOL I don't have anything that runs 4mm, just something I'd make up and have in the tool box.
                              Thanks though.
