I have a turnigy 120a in my stiletto running the stock 1800kv motor and turning an x640 prop. Batteries are turnigy 2x2s. I've upgraded the motor connectors to 4mm and use ec5s on the esc and batteries. The esc itself only gets to around 34deg c but the caps are at like 65deg c the boat runs great and I'm literally just slowing a little to turn round then full throttle again. So should I be worried about the cap temps? That's on about a 6 min run.

6 min is a good bit of runtime, a cap will help that like mentioned. Esc timing with that motor should be around 10* 11.25 on the seaking you have would be good. There not outrageously hot at all, but a cap bank would help.Comment

I totally forgot that the timing is still set to the standard 15 I will drop it down. Will this affect the speed at all or am I just creating more heat with the more advanced timing?Comment

ESC is fine............most caps are rated to 105*c, but its not good to run them close to there although they can handle it. Adding a couple caps always helps......never hurts.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=
