    Aeromarine Preditor Tunnel ?

Guys, I'm setting this up with a few extra parts I had on hand. I'm wondering how it might run.

    Hacker 12 XL 1500
    Jeti master 77
    6S 5000 30C
    x440

Do you think the ESC will hold up for a few short test runs ? I'm not sure how many amps a tunnel might pull.

I think I would try it on a 4S first then try the 6S

If I had a 4S set up that's probably what I would do but, I'm trying to work with what I have. It looks like this will be in the same rpm range as most 4S set ups.

The reason I said 4S is that I had the same esc and on 6S in a hydro and went a little too far now I do not have the same non smelly esc
4S would let you see if things were working OK before you stepped up to 6S

My friend Allen has a Predator. Nice boat. Big, wide sponsons allow it to corner really well at speed. We're still working on tuning out porpoising at full throttle. When the bow raises while porpoising, the prop can go lower in the water causing high amp draw spikes. Be carefull !

I have done a little more work on the Boat. It's about ready to go. One question it sounds like some guys flush the motor out after running with WD-40 but, with the Hacker it's closed off on both ends, so does need anything done to it ?

I'm currently running a Feigao on my tunnel; if the Hacker is like the Feigao, there's a small gap where the wires enter the endbell-enough to get the straw from a can of Corrosion-X or WD 40 in. If the motor gets dunked when the boat inverts, I hold upside down, drain water, then spray in the stuff - then hold upside down to let the excess drain.

Do you know how big of a prop will fit on the K&B 3.5 Leg ?

Don't know, but with your setup you probably won't need anything bigger than a 45mm prop. The x440 is a good starting point. With the 9XL on 4S I run a Grim 42/55 and it's fast enough for grins. Finding the correct strut height and angle will get you to the hull's sweet spot. A set-up board is your best bet to adjust these parameters.

Phil, Suckmywake (Bob), runs an Arc 36mm 1400kv on 6s with an X440 or X440/3 prop. Runs nice n cool with enough speed to make it a good time. Maybe pm him and get more details if you want. If I remember him saying correctly, a 42mm is the biggest that will fit on that leg, but I could be wrong. Its been awhile since we were talking about his Predator.

I had a predator. I ran a ul1 motor and x440/3. I found that running the batteries back near the transom was best for me. Less hopping.

I got a chance to run the Tunnel today. The 6S setup worked great. It wasn't the best conditions so I really had to slow up in the turns. Power was great, I had to be easy on the trigger or it would almost flip over. Temps were good after several short runs. I'll give it more of a work out when I get some better water. Phil

We had out Club Fun Run at the Lake today the Tunnel ran Great 46-47 mph on the Gun and temps were just warm. I'm still running the X440 I might prop up a little the next time out. Very fun Boat. Phil

That was a fun day, nice to have met you wish we could have talked longer. That is a prop standing machine.
