Best rough water boat?

What boat has the best reputation for rough water performance? Calm days are hard to come by on the lake where I usually run. I absolutely love my new Mystic 29, and I'm already thinking about a second boat for next season; one that I can run when it's a little too bumpy for the cat.

The budget is a concern, so I'd prefer something that would be happy running on the pairs of 2S1P 5000mah 40C packs I use in the Mystic.

I've watched some videos of a deep V that had self-righting qualities... that would be ideal!

Boy I ran my Jet Stream a lot this weekend and was very pleased with it's handling. It really didn't get into that much rough water but I managed to flip it twice and it recovered great. There was another guy with a faster hydro boat but he ditched it on his second run and flooded the electronics and was done for the day. If you are running more than 50 MPH though no water is smooth enough :). I was running two NMIH 7.4's in series on the sides of the hull.

BTW I am now running two 2S1P 5000mah 40C in parallel and haven't flipped it yet. So don't know if it's more stable or if I am taking it easier in the turns as I'm almost worried my U Joint will explode.

BTW running at 6Ibs. 5 Oz. and its a 31" deep V.

Build an Aeromarine Titan 29 using a Proboat or Aquacraft spec motor. My next boat, has a reputation for good rough water performance.
You'd need different batteries if you buy something like a pursuit 32 rtr. Most people run 4s2p or 6s setups in that size of boat.

Hi, I have a heavily modified SV27 with a self righting flood chamber installed. The boat was built by SUCKMYWAKE and is in perfect condition. I ran a Leopard 4074 2000 and runs in the mid 50's but it rolls over every time you stuff it. The boat is heavily reinforced to handle this type of speed and upset and runs on 2x 2s or 1x 4s. Rico 31 pretty much eats up the chop i had mine at 57 the other day and the water was not that great 4 inch chop or so that would be

If you're really serious, it's hard to do better than a scale model of this.

don't believe everything you see on YouTube; its all too easy to edit out all the flipping.

As for rough water hulls - go deep vee and low lift. Hard to recommend when you haven't stated whether you want to build up something, or if it has to be RTR. What is your budget? My absolute favorite rough water boat is my little Aeromarine mini X. its 27" long by 6" wide - a true to scale cigarette. I have 1800 KV motor on 4S with 40mm prop and she does low 40s, but just glides across the tops of the waves. Here's one of my best videos. its a couple laps unedited.

I'd want to build it this winter. The Aeromarine Titan 29 looks very interesting to me. I'd like to keep the budget in the $300-400 range. Looks like I could do that with the Titan....

i agree with the titan 29. it is very good in rough water with ul-1 motor esc. i built one this spring with that setup and ran in some heavy chop very well. then i put a leopard 1700kv in there and run it on 5s2p and whoa! 49 mph all day and handles pretty darn well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJeqkDzRXwg if you can get past the music check it out!
