Cool fast electric with an electric cooler?

Hi, Nice to meet everyone. My first post... I would like to put my 2cents in.

What about using something like a Peltier Junction? The large one at American Science & Surplus runs on 3-12 VDC and is only 1-9/16" sq. x 3/16". It would probably work better for cooling an ESC rather than a motor. You will still need some type of radiator, be it air cooled or water. I believe that in theory this would cool very well.

Ray Fuller told me awhile back that you dont need to watercool an electric motor if your boat is set up right.

As for surface temps of lakes being in the 90s. come race at San Isabel Lake with us, elevation 11,631 ft, average summer temp 72 degrees, summer night time temps can reach freezing point. no cooling needed at this lake!

I find this is true with my LSO setup which is an Oval Master 26 with 12 cells and a 700 motor and props in the 42-45mm range. My water cooling isn't really necessary in this setup. However, I get the impression cooling is more important in brushless systems. Is this the case? If your setup is right with a brushless system is cooling necessary? I don't have any experience with brushless so far.

I dont use cooling on my brushless motors, except one and that was just try out those fancy units OSE carries. on the esc if it came with water cooling I use it. if it didnt i dont bother with it.

Jeepers what setup do you run on your hydro again & is there cooling on that?

Just throwing in a question here.

If your average water surface temp is 85 to 90'F, what do you estimate the average air temp to be that you will cool the heat exchanger with in your closed loop system?

Doug if I where to try that the radiators would be mounted above deck in a scoop with the exhaust air exiting out the back. Maybe even fed by fans. In the jolly it can be done behind the hatch.

                  I understand Tom.
The point I was trying to make is if the water temp is 85+ degrees, the air temps would probably be similar.

I don't get it guys unless you're after the "cool (no pun intended) factor"
One thing I know for sure, conventional water cooling works in Atlanta in August on 100 degree days with 1 mile heat racing setups.
I'd be interested to see the results of the testing of some closed loop setups.

I was running a 7xl on 4s, hydra 120 and 438 to 440 prop it is water cooled on esc and motor, matter of fact it was with the cooling jacket i got from you! that boat is now an N2 sport hydro.
