Best set up for Villain EX???

I have searched but all threads seem to be older. So what is the best set up. This is eventually going to be for the kids to play with as I am bulding a bj26. So what will get it running without changing the esc. Maybe prop, motor and battery recommendations????

    Thanks,
    Kevin

In a word no. It is rated for 19 turns and up. You may be able to change pinion gears to go with lower turn motors. I ran mine all stock. I found that a set of good 2s lipo's are a great upgrade. My villain was much quicker with just that upgrade.

Yes the stock setup runs just fine on lipo. I ran a set of Polly RC 25c 7.4 packs. They weigh much less and produce much more power than the nimh packs. So the power to weight ratio is much better. You can buy these packs for about 50 dollars a peice.

lipos and octura prop up grade allows you to run counter rotating x447 props, that would get it movin

I agree with steveo. The props will help alot. A less expensive option are the carbon fiber props in the store also.

ok so I am going to run the x447 carbon props, two 7.4 lipo packs and I am thinking about some orion 17t motors. What will happen if I run the lower turn motors??? Like say a 13turm motor?? Will it work?? What kind of speeds will i see?

Do the upgrade in two steps, first get the batteries and props and then if you still want to, you can upgrade the motor. If you upgrade the motor you will most likely have to get a new speed control as the stock one will not handle modified motors. The 19T rating is for cars and does not take into consideration that the boats will draw a lot more amps.

if your esc is rated for two 19t motors stick with that, 19t are very power full motors, when i raced my touring car with 19t motors we turn laps times just as fast as lower turn motors, trinity makes some 19t motors, but for almost the same money and a little bit of work you could make it a single motor conv with a 700sc some new hardware it would make a better runner than stock, just a thought it is you kids boat and all
