Well I looked for the 5mm to 4mm adapter and they are OOS (Out Of Stock) at OSE where else can I find one? Can I just use a .2 inch to .11 inch?

HAHA Got it going fast enough I am scared to go full throttle as the torque is spinning the hull and making me apply a good amount of rudder to go straight. Turn fins here we come :). I love the way it really looks like a real power boat. But to do this I did have to go 14V and add another Batt. So 6 ibs now :). I wanted to throw my phone in it to get speed but it gets pretty wet now as it sits lower in the water and when I turn the seam is going below the water line and I forgot a baggie. I'll have to start taping or checking for leaks. My coolant system wasn't doing anything at first but I trimmed it up and threw a bigger intake pipe and it comes out as a steady stream (about pee strength lol) I am afraid it might be also aiding in the steering trim but it is fun compensating.

I did some camera phone video but it crapped out but I had a hard time using my phone and running the pistol grip anyways.

Ill try and get some vid tonight when I have a cameraman.

Well took it out again and got the GPS clocked at 30.2 Mph so I'm happy. But it was a short lived victory has it died 15 sec into the run. Apparently them crappy Tamiya connectors can't handle 14.4V and 90A ESC. Oh Well I knew I was going to be upgrading to 4mm Bananas anyway. Just need to study up on making the T's now so I can run Series.

Can you get a switch for the Seaking 90A I find it hard to plug bananas in while holding the throttle down and turning on the Tx. The motor and ESC barely even touch 80F just slightly warm.

I'm A little worried going 14V in Lipo from Nmih. Think it'll be a huge step up or just a longer runtime?

hi there mr2nr.. i just msged you on youtube a day or 2 ago "99600f4" what a small world huh? i didnt even realize it untill i read this post a few times but i have also just aquired a 20 year old jet stream from my older brother that hasnt been run in about 15 years.. it was my first introduction to the world of rc boats as a child so it sorta has alot of sentimental value to me. It is completely stock as it came from kyosho 20 years ago and i would love to get it running as good as yours is. So did you end up using the stock gear box and gears? or did you go direct drive as punisher67 did? interior pictures please.. i love this boat!

Careful it's a slippery slope! I got back into rc boats this time last year by dusting off my old Kyosho Viper, 19t brushed motor and blown esc later I got a Kyosho twin storm around August time, upgraded motors and larger prop later it was sold in December. I have now nearly finished my 2nd Fightercat build!

If I was you leave the geared drive and go with something like a 3660 sized brushless motor, water cooled esc, 45-48mm prop and a pair of Lipos this should get you moving nicely with good run time whilst keeping it original, If you try and over power it you will spend more time on the bench and money fixing things than buying a decent setup in the first place, trust me I know!

I have to agree with Mattwarner above - If you keep it near stock and run it as designed you will have a reliable boat , mind you I ran mine on a 28celled setup behind a Astroflight Cobalt 40 and those U-joints took the beating , 28 miles per hour was the best I ever got .

Here are some SS U-joints that would probably take a good beating

That's exactly what I went for on the Twinstorm (updated version of the jetstream) you will also need make sure you stick with the same size shaft on the motor as I know I struggled to find anything to fit the pinion gear

I was going to go for this motor

                  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8593

                  With a Turnigy/seaking 120a esc and 4s Lipos

Please just bear in mind just the motor and esc is going to set you back $100+ which is part way to a new decent Ready to run boat, this is where I drew the line and started a fresh build

Ok thanks guys.. I really wanted to go brushless and lipo but it seems like alot more trouble and money then it is worth.. I have a brushed reedy radon 30k rpm motor that I'll probably just stick in there with a car esc and play around with. Do you guys think it will be alot of improvement in the speed? AlsO I am in need of some ball bearings for the shaft and outdrive.. What size and manufacturer should I be looking into?
