Does anyone know if there is really going to be a digital version of RC Boat Modeler ? I thought I had read something about it somewhere, but I'll damned if I can find anything on it now ! I always enjoyed reading that mag....

There has been a digital edition for the last couple years but I'm pretty sure I read that it's no more.

Thanks for the reply. I had been searching around for the link as it was on one of my other PC's. At least, I can persue the back-issues anyway. It seems like FE RC Boats are the kiss of death for any publication. I used to read the Uk Marine Modeling (I think ???), but I have a limited interest in a scale boating....

      Thanks Again !

It is too bad that RCBM went away, but that is really due to changes in the way advertisers sell and in the R/C boating hobby itself. Twenty years ago there were three magazines devoted to R/C boats:

        Radio Control Boat Modeler
        R/C Boat and Ship Modeler
        R/C Race Boats

The problem was obvious - too many publications competing for a limited advertising and buyers market. R/C Race Boats was poorly written, poorly managed, and lasted the shortest time. R/C Boat and Ship Modeler hung on longer, but was ultimately stopped by problems with the publisher. RCBM was kept alive only because it shared the same editorial staff and offices as the highly successful Model Airplane News and R/C Car Action. In fact these other magazines funded much of RCBM, it would have folded a lot sooner otherwise. The problem now is lack of advertisers. With the Internet allowing the smaller operations to have an impressive web page and attract sales, and with the proliferation of on-line forums to get the word out, advertisers no longer needed a periodical. So an already small advertiser base shrunk down to almost nothing. AirAge tried to keep it alive with the digital version, but lack of sales and subscriptions doomed that attempt. No surprise really - who knew it even existed until it was too late? It is too bad and it will be missed.

          Hi Guy's ,

Though there was a prominent member of this forum that stated he was going to put together a book of current trends in F/E R/C Boating , similar to Jay Turner's of 1997ish . A book would be great that may include different aspects of our hobby in different parts of the world including in europe & asia - food for thought anyway , as i enjoy my copy of Jay's book to see where the hobby was 15 year ago ....

All the best in F/E R/C Boating ,
