need recommendations for ac razor 45

just picked up new AC boats Razor 45 " hull with speedmaster hardware mounted already from a guy. I know the boat is designed for gas, but if I were to convert it to FE, what motor and speed controller would be suitable in a big boat like this? I'm thinking it would have to run on 8s at the very least. Want to price out electric options vs gas options.

    Leopard 5692 1000kv on 8s would get that hull going well...............high 50's at least. I'd go with a Swordfish 240hv, great speedo's.

A higher quality option would be the Castle 2028 on 8S or 10S and the ICE 200HV when they are available again. I recommend 10S due to longer run times and lower stress on the components....or higher speeds, your choice. The Razor makes a great FE hull, several club members have Aeromarine Stingrays (copies of the AC boat) and they run great, good speed due to the high lift bottom.

so if i go FE and use the Castle system, it's going to cost me about $800 for motor and Ice hv esc, another $400 for a good set of 10 s batteries, for about 6-7 mins of runtime, with the chance of meltdown , whereas I can get a modified gas motor for about $500 and have 20-30 min run-times and great reliabilty.
Tough decision, cause the main lake I run at is electric only. ( Damn, something about it being a reservoir so gas engines of any kind not allowed ) lol.

The ICE200HVs were selling on eBay for about $250 before the recall, and a 2028 can be had for under $300 if you are willing to shop (several sold in the past two weeks on OSE for $280). Not quite $800.

It is very common for fuel guys to justify their boats by complaining about the cost or run time of FE while ignoring the speed advantage - I hear it at every gas race I attend. If FE isn't your cup of tea that's fine. Otherwise we'll be glad to help.
