That hull is speed-limited - too much motor and it isn't even drivable. We ran them with 19T 05 brushed motors and x432 props on 6 NiMH cells. Today a Feigao 12S on two LiPo cells - 25C/3300 minimum - with an x427 or x430 prop should work well - the plastic x431 may be great too. If that's too slow for you, go up to an x435.

ok so many i will just do a 19T brushed motor.

What motors do you recommend? 7 cells?

I have not used an 05 brushed motor for years, I don't know much about the current offerings. I'd choose from among these:

Tower Hobbies carries an expansive collection of RC cars, RC airplanes, RC boats, model trains, sot cars, and supplies for all hobbyists.

        Use SIX NiMH cells.

I am a FE newbie here but I had the same questions a few months ago. Per the info here I replaced the 19T brushed motor with a modern brushless in a 20" mono. It is a 3650 so the same physical size as the 19T ones listed above.

The way I have it set up may be a bit too fast though so you may want to go with a different kv/battery cell combo. My too hot combo gives me 33,000 rpm because I thought I had a 15T in the boat which would have given it 27,000 RPM instead of the actual 19T 22,000 rpm. So I increased the Kv more than I should have.

Perhaps someone else can chime in on the right rpm for your boat. ESC and motor and battery are staying cool for me. Do a search on Electrified if you want to see more about my boat. Still tuning it in. Having issue with prop walk (makes a right turn).

2950 kv motor with 3S. Got it on sale for $22 three weeks ago though: http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m26-car-3650-2950.html

You should go with either a lower kv motor (I see a 2230) or go with 2S with a higher Kv version?

So on 2S around 22,000 RPM
