    is it really worth it???

Been pricing lipos for the last few days. decided to either go with the hyperions 45c 5000mah or the thunder power 65c 6600mah. Just wondering what kind of difference I would really notice by spending nearly twice the amount for the thunderpower to gain 1600mah and 20c discharge? Am I thinking right when I say 20 more seconds of run time and maybe 1 more mph in speed? Just doesn't seem worth the extra 150.00 bucks for such a small difference. Especially when both companies produce great quality packs. Can someone enlighten me on the difference? Thanks.

The thunder power will have alot more punch in takeoffs, if you were to pin the throttle the TP's would accelerate faster and go slightly faster

do you really need 429 Amps of discharge? I really doubt it. Post more info of your setup (ie boat specs, ESC, motor, race/sport)

Even the hyperions might be overkill for your application.

There will not be a power difference at all. Unless you're pulling over 225 amps.

its an intruder s on a neu 1515 1 y with a 180 seaking esc, m445 prop. I want to run 5s 2p. I will not be competing, but I did go with a nice boat setup, so i don't want to skimp on the batteries... but if i could get away with some turnigy nanos or some gen aces and not notice a difference, then why not? But if the notice is dramatic, then I will shell out the moola.

I have 4 ThunderPower 2s 5300 65c packs that swelled beyond belief. This is just my experience with them, but I wont be using this brand ever again. Ive had better luck with Turnigy packs.

I read a long article somewhere about the different lipo brands. It claimed the less expensive brands like turnigy and sky lipo etc were as good as and often better then most of the higher priced brands. It did say hyperion was one of the few higher priced brands that actually proved better quality than others and that brands like max amps were a flat out ripoff. Unless your a top level racer looking to squeeze out that tiniest bit of performance I personally couldnt see the point in spending the extra dough. I will try to find the article agin and post a link.

thanks guys. If thats the case, I will be able to buy a couple sets of tur/nanos and gens from the money i save from one set of tp. I will not be competing, but do like having the good stuff Probably try one set of each to compare.

I am waiting on a set of turnigy's and a set of sky lipos. After many hrs of searching I found I could save a bit by getting two 6s 2650 mah 40c packs rather than a 5000mah pack of the same c rating. I can run them in parallel for a total of 5300 mah for about $20 less.

Get more Turnigys and spend more time running your boat.

If you are running this setup on a stock boat with a 60A or lower ESC, then this is fine. However, if you are in the 120A+ ESC range, you are playing with fire, literally.

Yes, you double your mah for double the run time. But the 40C discharge stays the same. So although your ESC is capable of getting 212A from the packs, EACH pack is still technically rated at 106A.

But is the current draw not determined by the load on the motor. And do the batteries not share the load placed on them.
