New P Spec Hydro Heat Race Record

Brian Buaas just set a new NAMBA heat race record of 1:18.32 at our District 8 race yesterday. He was running a Raptor rigger with a Castle ICE Lite 100 ESC and a Grim Racer 4S 5000 battery. Not too far off the 1:12 A hydro record.

To add insult to injury, Brian won open hydro today with the same boat. He was first in all 4 heats.

What does that translate to in mph?

It equates to ~ 50mph if you were on the bouy line for the whole race (not possible). This boat used to radar ~67mph at the end of the strait and ~60 exiting the corner. The setup have been refined a bit since then. UL-1 motor, Grimracer 40C 5000's, Castle Ice lite 100 with cooling added and conformal coated (I drive a stick radio), heavily modded ABC S-15.

This is the same hull I ran for the 19.6xx second 2-lap record with a Neu, it's just been painted since then.

That's 13 second one mile laps. Not too many boats of any type can run that in traffic. There were four other boats running at the start with three finishing as I remember.
