There are too many to list here. There is rigger, mono, hydro, tunnel, cat, scale, etc. Some of the classes are "limited" to certain motors and batteries. Others are open, motor wise, and are designated with different identifiers for the battery power in that class. For example, "P" designates 4S batteries, "Q" designates 6S, etc. etc. etc.
It can be a bit confusing. You should telll us what size and type boat you are interested in and we will point you in the right direction.
There is no limit to what motor/esc you use in 1/8 scale. Batteries, depending on KV of the motor used range from 8S to 12S. Section 21 in the NAMBA rules is about 1/8 scale. Further info is in the electric section. Lots of rules regarding the placement of the prop/strut location, etc. Also scale points for realistic scale reproduction of full scale boats.
