    How hot is too hot?

    Got up to 142 on the ESC and motor today. WOT runs. Seems super hot ?

      That is probably okay IF you made the measurements within a minute of pulling the boat out. ESCs in particular cool off fast when not running. A decent quality motor is fine at that temp, did you check the caps on the ESC?

          it was right after. i just temped the heat fins on ESC not caps. it was a leopard motor and seeking 180
